Unpopular opinion:
The attitude of "that's just how I am take it or leave it" is still a sign of immaturity.
As an adult, it's your responsibility to figure out which of your traits are toxic and are negatively impactful towards other people and the ones you love, and to eventually learn how to fix them.
At some point we all got to start making ourselves better individuals. If you truly believe you don't have to change anything about yourself even at the very least the worst in you, and that people will just have to deal with it then sorry, you're still a child.

Totally this!
I love this
... and I jump to my feet and applaud.
But what is worse - is when they know they are immature and want to stay that way. I’ve heard it several times from my husband.

Change
Yes! My husband said this to me for years, “All you’ve ever wanted to do is change me.”
Finally, one day I responded with, “If you’re an a$$hole, you need to change!”
He never said it again
Your quote should be on a motivational poster
I laughed when I read that because it is so true. You can spend a lifetime couching your responses to attempt to forestall pouting. Sometimes 'short and sweet' is more effective.
Sow's ear
If I commented on a way for him to improve or pay attention to, H used to repeat to me with a snarky tone, "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear." As if, "Like it or lump it." "What you see is what you get." "Stop expecting anything more of me than who I was decades ago."
I finally had a comeback and said to him, "If I had a sow's ear, I would not carry it around with me." I wish I would have known that his bar was set so low for himself.
LOL....
When adult say's that...Our next words (if we bother to speak at all should be)...I'll leave it!...;)
