I don't know if this has been done in other threads, and I don't have time to go find out. Along the lines of Ned Hollowell's great article — in which he tries to explain what it's like to have ADD/ADHD — I thought it'd be interesting to hear how other folks explain their experiences with ADD/ADHD. So finish one of the two statements below:
1.) Having ADD/ADHD is like ...
2.) Living with an ADD/ADHD person is like ...

... running a race in knee-high mud, while everyone else is running on grass. Sometimes you do amazing things, but it feels like it's just a matter of time before you fall on your face in the mud.

So there I am...
.. flailing around in my own little puddle of mud. Gazing fixedly at the sunny grasslands, I begin to pull myself out and then - THWACK - out of a clear blue sky this ADHD person lands on me and THUD, I'm laid out face down. AGAIN!
Thanks for the opening, couldn't resist :)
Great Imagery!

I'm the non who looks like a flattened pancake
Right with you there on the crash & burn, so much more fun than easy success :)
Another one from me ...
Having ADD/ADHD is like ... having a bunch of strings tied around your fingers, to remind you to do stuff ... but not remembering what each string is supposed to remind you of. Or, even ... knowing what the strings are for, but having no idea how to organize a plan to get the damned strings off your fingers! Next thing you know, you're tied up in a chinese finger puzzle knot from hell, wondering why you didn't just use post-it notes.

Having ADD/ADHD (according to spouse) is like.... having hot acid pouring on the grinding wheels of your brain all day long.
Living with an ADD/ADHD is like....trying to communicate with someone who speaks a foreign language. It just takes monstrously long to be understood. Except it feels like an insidious alien is messing with my head. Like the Twilight Zone episode "Nightmare at 20,000 feet".
hi ..
ADD is like ... the mother of all walking contradictions ..
